This high-quality studio ceramic art vase was created by the German ceramist Josef Höhler (1909-1964) in Friedrichroda, Gotha which is located in the Thuringia region of East Germany. Josef Höhler had his own studio in the GDR, which was later transferred to a VEB (Volkseigner Betrieb) KKF (Künstler Keramik Friedrichroda) by the states. The vase features a special black-silver oxide glaze. Even as an artist in the GDR his work was still characterized by the Bauhaus tradition.
