Vintage Design

Elegant 1960's floor lamp by Charlotte Wawer in mid brown leather with large parchment shade creating a warm light. The hand made drum shade in parchment is bind with leather borders, hand stitched with leather and connected by brass elements. The Leather covered foot is connected to brushed brass sleeves on the top and bottom over the leather covered stem. The lamp holds the company label. The lamp holds two E27 light bulbs. Charlotte Wawer started designing lamps in Danzig, but she had to flee the city in 1945 and rebuilt her business in Osterode. The company, Charlotte Wawer Wohnraumleuchten, with about 50 employees, produced lampshades and lamps, characterized by a rich use of leather and parchment. The company was run by Charlotte, who designed all objects, and her husband Clemens. Dimensions base; Height 171 cm, Diameter 32 cm. Dimensions lamp shade; Height 42 cm, Diameter 57 cm.
