In keeping with our narratives of epic battles, Singleton painted this Leviathan during a time when the the COVID pandemic was raging around globe and struggle for survival was paramount. Singleton starts a painting by working abstractly, painting in colour and marks. She builds up layers and develops a setting and figures and finally a narrative. The amount of time taken to complete a piece varies considerably depending on the artwork. Singleton uses iridescent and florescent pigments that shimmer and glow differently with changing light. There is a nice texture to the physical pieces that is difficult to see photographed. This piece looks fantastic floated in 40cm x 50 cm frame.
