Acrylic on canvas. Signature, date 1973, technical and enforcement (Bologna) at the rear. Present also partial label of cultural association of art in Milan.
Born in Fidenza (Parma) and artistically trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Maurizio Bottarelli has traveled extensively abroad (London, United States, Austria, Australia, ..), seeking inspiration for his works in the places he visited .
His language is characterized by the incessant dialogue, which runs through all his work, between the two protagonists of the paintings, matter and color, played on experimentation, research, stratification of matter - pigments, paper, glue, paint, solvent - made possible by exceptional technical ability.
His landscapes, initially inspired by her travels, are projected gradually towards ever greater abstraction, coming regardless of any reference to real places.
As well as his portraits of human figures (the 'heads'), are rather representations that could be called universal human and the human condition, of which the investigating lined faces, suffering, contracts into a grimace, perhaps of fear or pain, a real ''topography of suffering.''
All his production is presented in more than one hundred solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad; participates in all major thematic group exhibitions and documenting contemporary art in Italy from the sixties to today.
