Nato a Napoli nel 1950 dove attualmente vive e opera.
Personaggio atipico nel panorama dell’arte contemporanea: produce senza soluzione di continuità da circa 35 anni, ma espone pochissimo. Rarissime infatti sono le sue apparizioni in pubblico: come se la sua visione del fare fosse molto simile a quella del pittore dell’era paleolitica che realizzava i suoi graffiti nella parte più oscura della sua caverna non per un fine estetico, ma per soddisfare un esigenza psichica interna resa a lenire le sue paure e le sue angosce.

“… D’Orta ha un’idea del materiale artistico come qualcosa che sta perdendo o all’opposto che riacquistando le sue potenzialità, ma che è costretto a sostare in una zona d’attesa.
