" 1st World War German Airplane Propeller Niendorf Luckenwalde Halberstadt Cl IV " This extraordinary wooden aircraft propeller is from the First World War, used on the fearsome German Halberstadt CL.IV, a ground attack aircraft of great reputation. The piece is a rare artifact. Many German propellers did not survive due to the massive destruction following the First World War. This is the work of brothers Karl and Herman Niendorf. Initially piano makers at their Pianofabrik in Luckenwalde, Brandenburg, they were co-opted into propeller production in 1915, a common story during the war as many German carpenters turned to making aircraft components. For unusually large or heavy items, we recommend asking a family member or friend for an extra hand, as we cannot send more than 2 drivers.
