Vintage Design

Beautiful table lamp from the 1960s Attrib. Oscar Torlasco, Italian workmanship of the highest quality. Black lacquered metal tubes and brass rods. Metal diffuser. Original condition, undamaged, with some small scratches to the black metal in places. The brass has a nice patina. There is no damage.

About the Creator

Oscar Torlasco

Italian lighting designer Oscar Torlasco (born in Rome, 1934-2004) designed for a wide array of Italian lighting manufacturers including Esperia and Stilkronen, though he spent most of his career designing for Lumi.

Particularly active during the 1950s and 1960s, Torlasco’s lighting designs - which span sconces, floor lamps, and chandeliers - often utilized industrial chromed steel which he paired with more luxurious materials such as marble, crystal, and brass. His eclectic designs ranged in style from industrial and Space Age to Italian Art Deco. The use of optical glass lenses within his designs is considered Torlasco's signature. In 1959, he was awarded a Compasso d`Oro for his public street light Genova 4053 (1959).
