BIOGRAPHY
Athos Faccincani was born in 1951 in Peschiera del Garda. He began to devote himself to drawing and painting as a child, but was forced to do it in the basement, in secret, because his mother was against it. After obtaining the middle school, he enrolled in accounting to please his mother. In the afternoons he attends, without telling his parents, the studies of Guidi, Seibezzi and Novati, where he learns painting techniques, but above all understands that art is a fundamental part of his life.
After graduation he refuses a job in a bank to devote himself to art full time. The works of these young years have an expressionist style and portray dark and suffering characters. Athos Faccincani attends psychiatric hospitals and prisons to be able to better express the suffering and anguish of his characters.
In the '70s he was commissioned an exhibition on the Resistance, thanks to which he was appointed Knight of the Republic, conferred by Sandro Pertini who had visited his personal exhibitions.
After this recognition, Athos Faccincani lives a period of inner crisis and abandons painting for a year. In this period he takes care of his son Mattia and makes several trips in southern Italy.
When he decides to start painting again, his style changes radically both for the subjects and for the style. In this new artistic phase he prefers landscapes that represent a lush and luxuriant nature. The style is almost impressionistic, the colors used are bright. Each painting proposes the same guidelines: the high sun, the light and the simple story. It almost seems that Faccincani has decided to fight the suffering of the world, typical of his first phase, with painting.
Athos Faccincani is today a very successful artist: he has exhibited in London, Paris, Vienna, Chicago, Madrid, Los Angeles, New York, Zurich, Monte Carlo... as well as in Italy. His works are present in the homes of Hollywood celebrities and has won numerous awards.
Athos Faccincani is certainly one of the few artists who manages to render the lush beauty of the Mediterranean coasts, without tinging it with melancholy or sadness. In fact, Faccincani's landscapes leave no room for nostalgia or regret for the places represented, because the bright and vivid colors are able to completely satisfy the viewer, without making him want to be there.
