About This Piece

Vintage Design

There is such a rich patina to this intricately hand-carved box in oak. Lotus flowers set symmetrically towards its edges and a center motif/panel with unusual floral details. It may have been made in Scandinavia inspired by Japanese craftsmanship. It showcases empire or consulate styling with a twist of Japanese. It dates to around 1850-1890.
